Democratic Political Operative and Strategist

Trevor Southerland

Trevor Southerland is a Democratic political strategist with more than 20 years of experience in state legislative campaigns, caucus operations, fundraising, field strategy, paid communications, and majority-building.

He served as Finance Director in 2015, Deputy Executive Director in 2017 and Executive Director in 2019 of the Virginia House Democratic Caucus, helping Democrats flip 21 seats across those three cycles and win the majority for the first time in two decades. That victory led to the election of the first woman and first Jewish Speaker in Virginia history.

In 2022, he served as Executive Director of the Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee, where Democrats gained 12 seats and won their first House majority in more than a decade, leading to the election of the first woman Speaker in the history of Pennsylvania.
